Ceramic Tile-A Family Friendly Bathroom Flooring

When considering options for bathroom flooring, you will do well to put ceramic tile on your list of possible choices. In the bath where water is ever-present especially in busy homes with children, you need to think about pooling water when getting in and out of the bath as well as the occasional overflowing toilet dilemma.

If you are like most people today you don’t want to spend all your leisure time cleaning floors and worrying about whether water will damage the finish. This makes ceramic tile a good solution. It is easy to clean and will withstand a lot of wear. If installed and sealed properly it is one type of bathroom flooring that will give you few worries.

Safety is another important issue in a bath with so many hard surfaces. Selecting tile with texture, as well as a non-glossy finish are important

Tile comes in a wide variety of color choices and patterns, as well as a number of sizes. Another way to bring interest to your bathroom flooring is to have the tile layed out in a particular pattern of your choice. Or you could choose to have all the main floor very simple, and then lay a border of different size tile around the edges. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination.

Grouting also is a factor in design. A tile floor can have very thin grout lines giving it a far smoother contemporary look that just seems to flow. If you like a Country theme wider grout lines will give a more homespun appearance. And then there is the color. If you want a very simplistic clean look, then select grout closely matched in color to the tile. Or for a different look your grout could contrast with the tile.

More bold colors are very appropriate for a Contemporary look if your room is large enough to handle a bold color without becoming overwhelming. Country or Victorian bathrooms are better suited to neutral warmer colors. If a spa-like relaxing atmosphere is what you are creating the blues-greens or sea colors can be a good choice.

You can also use this same ceramic tile in your shower and continue the look

When purchasing, you will notice a wide range of prices. You alone know your budget limitations, but it is a good idea to invest in the best you can afford. Tile will serve you for many years so there is a pay back. It also raises the value of your home.

Do some comparison shopping. Check out a number of different patterns for laying ceramic tile to see if there is one you particularly like. Consider color both for the tile, and the grout when remodeling a bath. Also think long term. Is this a color and pattern that you can live with over time, and will it allow minor decor changes over the years? Since tile is so durable, you will get long-term service when you use it for bathroom flooring, and you want to make a wise choice that you will still be pleased with five or ten years later.
